About him
I am prone to throwing random trivia into a conversation (did you know that Liechtenstein is a major exporter of false teeth?), and going off on weird tangents because something the other person said reminded me of something else (I remember that time when...). So don't expect a conversation with me to proceed in an orderly sequence.
I also tell jokes, although the quality of them is in the assessment of the listener (How is an iPhone like a medieval knight? Neither of them lasts long without their charger).
Other things - I live surrounded by books (and have even written one). Home office doubles as a library, but that doesn't stop me fitting a few extra bookcases in other rooms as well. I don't stick to a particular genre or author, I just read whatever interests me. Might be history, science, travel, global affairs, sport...
I'm a great nature lover - that can mean long walks (although unfortunately the limp is restricting them a bit) but doesn't have to... strolling through a wood, around a lake, by a river or along a clifftop is wonderfully refreshing regardless of distance or speed. Very much not of the school of thought that walking has to be in a national park - you can enjoy it almost anywhere; there are many lovely routes in urban areas. Will always stop to read an information board and learn something about the nature or history of the area!
The rest of the time I can usually be found playing the French horn (badly) in a local amateur orchestra. My idea of an evening out is a concert or play; for a day trip I'd go to a museum or historic site.
How do people describe me? Jeremy Paxman once said I was "unnervingly tall". One of my friends called me "a really thin version of Pudsey Bear", another opted for "completely mad".

Someone to go through the ups and downs of life with. To celebrate together when we've earned it, to support each other when we need it, to share intelligent conversation, a hug or a good laugh - and to explore the world together, whether that's a trip across continents or just a walk in the nearest park.
I wouldn't say many things are deal breakers, but lack of a sense of adventure would make things difficult. If you prefer resorts and package tours, we are probably not going to find a holiday which we both enjoy.
