If I could live many lives all at once … I’d be an opera star, and pour love out to the world with every note. I’d write stories full of magic and joy, that make you laugh and weep and vow to live (even) more vividly than you do. I’d live deep in the countryside, grow kale and honeysuckle, and whisper sweet nothings to baby hedgehogs. I’d have another dog. I’d keep cows. I’d spend years in Italy, and speak like a native. Ditto France. Ditto Dorset. I’d read Dickens for the first time, many times over (possible if you’re living several lives at once). I'd dance every day. I’d become wiser much earlier, and know how to make my wisdom grow. I’d meditate, listening as the world turns. I would wonder daily.
