About her
These days I'm happily retired and deeply involved in local life: trustee of a history charity (I've organised a pop-up antiques shop, a Faulty Towers style tea tent, an ABBA tribute concert, and a conference on women's history), part of a community tourism project (with our own castle!) and a member of an arts group where I'm finally reclaiming the creative side I set aside decades ago.
I did however spend nearly fifteen years in California — Sonoma County, just north of San Francisco — first working in electronics manufacturing, then as a journalist which gave me an excuse to ask endless questions and piece together the ever expanding jigsaw of life. I loved the variety, the people, the constant learning.
Now most days involve the dogs and a walk through the woods — rain, shine, or sideways Scottish weather. I usually come back muddy, slightly damp, and wondering why I hesitated to get out there in the first place.
I'm not the life and soul of the party, but I do scrub up well — I'm outgoing and I mix well — I ask questions and enjoy listening. I'm genuinely interested in other people's stories.
My sense of humour runs warm rather than cutting — honest, a bit earthy, with the occasional surprise. I'm better in writing than in performance; I love a good email exchange with friends who live far away - but that’s not what I’m on here for.
I notice things. I like building pictures with words.
I'm comfortable in my own company and have a good life here — real and stimulating friendships, involvement in meaningful activities in a place I care about. But I'd like to share the next chapter with someone and may consider moving for the right person.
