About him
I am fit, healthy and active and ready to find someone special, and to find love again. Friendly and interested, I like to talk, listen and discuss, but am not gregarious, and thrive best in one-to-ones and small groups. I am quite self-reliant and capable, also sensitive and sometimes fragile, whilst remaining ultimately robust. I try to be empathetic, to have fun, be funny and to laugh, but can be overly serious. Cycling, walking and playing tennis every week, for the sociability and friendships primarily, keeps me physically and emotionally fit. I am not a sports fan (tennis apart). Gardening is a passion. Inner city, informal and wildlife friendly. A joy to behold in summer, and keeps me grounded and sane. Music is important. Mainly classical, choral and opera, but also some popular music. Streaming allows me to discover a lot of music that was previously unknown to me. I regularly attend concerts, opera, theatre and ballet. and read :modern literature, science, history and social, political and economic commentary. Since retiring, I have learned to draw and make decorative glassware. I have happy memories of many cultural and wild-life holidays, and the photos and art decorate my house. Also lovely holidays in European coasts, countryside and cities. It would be lovely to find someone and resume travels together. Respectful politics, democracy and decency are important to me. I'm moderate centre left, Guardian reader, loathe "populism" and intolerance, and hold socially liberal and inclusive views. Charitable giving focusses on developing world, poverty and disaster relief, and environment and political freedom campaigns. I cook and eat healthily. I do, though, refuel on pub grub and beer when walking or cycling. I drink alcohol (more than recommended) but am not a heavy drinker, and don't smoke or take drugs.

I would like to meet an attractive woman with vitality and a love of outdoors, gardens, music and culture, and a desire to share this with me. Someone who keeps themselves fit and healthy (as far as we can as we age). They would be kind, honest and tolerant, and broadly share my liberal views. They would be affectionate, and willing to show this. And take pleasure in walking and talking. A desire and ability to travel, at least in Europe, would be good.
Ideally a soulmate and life partner. But I am also open to friendship and companionship over shared interests and values.
And someone I can learn from and widen my knowledge, understanding and horizons.
