About him
I’m interested in getting to know you. I need to be challenged and stretched. My friends think I’m outgoing and confident but really I am quite shy. I enjoy trying new things but will not bungee jump. I really enjoy Art and music. I’m getting into jazz. I am not well informed about either and enjoy finding out. I seem to travel a lot. This year I visited a Pre Raphaelite exhibition near Bologna, hiked in Lazio, spent a few days in Venice at the bienniale. I had a motorbike adventure in Lao then a road trip in Western Australia. I enjoy exploring new areas in the UK just as much. I do Pilates and Yoga badly but refuse to give up. I’m lefty and have green views and am upset by the lack of action on the climate emergency. Yes I can spot the contradictions. I want to do a bit making the world a better place.

He's kind, reliable and thoughtful. A good dad, he's very nurturing of his two delightful daughters, now at Uni.
It's great that he can talk in detail about books he has read (and will pick up on our suggestions) and it's a plus that he can be so articulate about a wide range of knowledge, culture and events. None of it taken too seriously unless it's appropriate.
Although he does some crazy things like year round swimming in the local sea (fortunately not obligatory!) he's very happy to settle into new experiences. He decided to join us for the first time at the Art Biennale this year, then came with us on spec to the famous velvet factory in Venice and explore some Roman history at the Palazzo Grimani (followed by reading some Mary Beard). A fascinating and fun holiday together, and all in the pouring rain.
Simon is very generous too, and he will bring a really good bottle of wine when he comes to us to eat. And as a host he cooks an excellent meal., or he'll treat us to an occasion at one of Edinburgh's marvellous restaurants, maybe in conjunction with a performance at the Festival or Fringe.
He's one of the people we know who brings a smile to us when we think of him.
