About him
I am kind, usually amused, often sceptical, more interested in cooperation than "winning". Irritated by TV adverts. Occasionally uninspired. Thrilled/charmed/demolished by music. Grateful for the many good things in my life, big and small. When I am frustrated or off my stride I don't make that anyone else's problem. Affectionate. Not as sanctimonious as I probably sound!
I'm interested in most things - I like to listen to knowledgeable people talk about "their" subjects. I love water and the sea - I used to sail high performance dinghies and currently have a sea kayak. I have ridden motorcycles since the age of thirteen, these days for touring trips and gentle sunny evenings. I do also own a car. I have always loved music and I play an acoustic guitar with familiarity rather than expertiese. I like films, plays, books... The only activity I really don't like, is flying in airliners ( yes, one of those ), but I'll even do that under duress. I like "days out" and picnics under shady trees. I prefer a few friends to crowds. Good at "talking about things" and play my cards "on the table", but still something of a romantic in spite of life's little lessons.
My outlook on life? A fairly level gaze really. Not pessimistic ( well OK, see "airliners" above ) but I DO value a credible "plan B". I generally enjoy the goodness of life and hope to dodge or deal with the occasional bullet successfully, if not always gracefully.
About his ideal match
Well, I value straightforwardness, honesty, kindness and the confidence to "be yourself". I'd like to be able to laugh together and find pleasure in ordinary days, just spending time, as well as in "special" events. I want to find a genuine "spark" and translate that into something profoundly good and lasting. I would like to share as much as is wanted and make space and time for the interests we may have that are not mutually enjoyed ( My "ideal partner"(?!) may not like gentle old motorcycles or eskimo-rolling kayaks, I don't like skydiving, shouting-matches or boozey pub sessions ). How can I circumscribe my "ideal partner"? They be them, I'll be me, let's see if it works.

I've known Sam for over 20 years, originally as a friend of my then boyfriend (now husband), but I now see him as a friend of mine, too. Sam is great fun to be with. He has a dry sense of humour and will work hard to make sure those around him are enjoying themselves, too. He would cherish a partner and would be very supportive of their endeavours. I would say he prizes good conversation- he is honest, open and straightforward and would want similar qualities in a prospective friend or partner. He is fantastic in a crisis - particularly during sticky moments at sea. Sam finds the joy in small things, e.g cooking a meal for friends and spending a cosy evening together. It would be worth spending the time to get to know Sam.

What can I say, I have known Sam for nearly 25 years.
He is kind, gentle and sincere. Sam is intelligent and has a good sense of humour.
He respects and honours his friends and tends to put others needs ahead of his own.
It may take time to get to know Sam but it is time well spent.
