About him
Hello!
Here are some words to describe me in no particular order.
I'm direct, honest, independent, confident, like to travel when I can (or did), and enjoy a good road trip!. One of my passions is being in the outdoors exploring on foot or bike, getting lost in the woods or taking in big coastal skies.
I'm energetic, young at heart, fit and look after myself with regular exercise and healthy(ish) living. I drink in moderation, and prefer it to be the reward after a long hike, or saved for good company, rather than the focus of nights or days out. Also, I love my music and gigs, history, myth and legend, museums, cultural events and exhibitions.... as well as getting muddy.
My sense of humour is on the obscure/occasionally dark/dry side, and I'd say that I'm quick witted and a bit cheeky.
I'm passionate about the environment and am an occasional conservation volunteer. Have also recently returned to education to broaden future career horizons, after many years working as a professional engineer and running my own business.
Being an involved parent I plan my week to an extent around the usual stuff, but co-parenting and working for myself means there's also enough time to let my hair down, and spend it with likeminded souls.

It would be great to meet a lady with similar interests, who either has kids understands what it's like being an involved parent and working.
I would like ideally to develop a friendship with someone first. Trust is key and it's important to me that people don't feel they have to filter or censor themselves in order to keep the other person happy!
Being able to laugh together and ideally having an aligned sense of humour is important. I believe that occasionally making light of the more serious things in life can be cathartic!.
I like people who are independent, driven, active, creative, proactive, into fitness and keeping themselves healthy, well educated, and with their own interests and passions. I admire people who think outside of the box and don't sit on their hands looking for excuses not to try or do new things. Creative energy and drive are great qualities in my book.
If you're happy with your own company and don't necessarily want (or need) to be in touch with someone every day (I am, and like, independent people), then it would be great to chat. I feel the ideal situation is a supportive trusting partnership, with a happy medium of spending quality time together and apart, to allow people to do their own thing. In my eyes, space in a relationship is a good thing and doesn't mean compromising on how good, right or committed it is. Too much to ask?!
I believe a bit of emailing and texting is good initially, but prefer meeting in person early on to see if there is a connection and chemistry.
